THREE OAKS — Bantam Brook Cottage, a new vacation rental at at 8111 Kruger Road in Three Oaks, literally opened with a May 21 Harbor Country Chamber of Commerce Ribbon Cutting Ceremony.
“We’re open as of today,” said Steven Throw, who owns the retreat with Mark Costello.
The former horse farm set on five wooded acres overlooking a ravine with a babbling brook now offers weekly vacation rentals. Owner of Chefs on Call in Chicago, Costello is an alumnus of the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York, and has worked for caterers, restaurants, institutions and private clients in New York, California, and Switzerland.
“Harbor Country is all about relaxing. We want to offer our guests a stress-free retreat in the country,” Costello said.
Throw said the Bantam Brook Cottage property contains two homes which can accommodate 16 people total or 10 and 6 separately. There also are some actual bantam roosters in the back yard.
The main house can be rented by the week in summer, the 6-person coach house has three night minimums, and during the off-season there’s a three-night minimum on both homes.
